Chapman Stone's History
In the late 1960’s local electrician, Colin Chapman had a vision to open a stone and marble company in central Illinois. He wanted it molded after his in-laws company based in West Virginia. In 1969, Colin and Sherry Chapman opened the doors to Chapman Stone and Marble in Central Illinois.
Landscaping stone, mulch and other landscaping items were first scooped into half ton bathtubs and then bagged into 50 pound bags. This tradition still continues. We now have a tractor that uses a half ton/half yard scoop, while still providing landscaping rock in 50 pound bags.
